Paige was ‘streetwise’ – murder trial jury hears
The jury in the trial of Robert Ewing heard that he had informed police searching for the 15-year-old: “Paige is extremely streetwise and can definitely handle herself.
“She can be very mouthy when she has had a drink and is definitely sexually promiscuous.”

Hide AdEwing is alleged by the prosecution to have had an inappropriate sexual interest in the youngster and to have murdered her.
The court heard that in a typed statement Ewing, then 54, described Paige as a friend.
Ewing also claimed that Paige and a friend, had recounted many of their “sexual conquests”, to him.
Det Con Carl Harris told the court he had gone to Ewing’s flat on All Hallows’ Road, Bispham, on September 18 2007 – Paige having disappeared the previous month – to try and get information about the missing youngster.

Hide AdThe officer said: “He started relating he had last seen her about a month ago when she turned up at his address carrying bags and was stood in his hallway for about 10 minutes.
“He then basically said she was wanting to stay at his address because she had been thrown out of her house.
The defendant said he knew Paige through her friend Tiffany Bell and she would stay the odd night at his flat.
Det Con Lois Bithell, gave evidence to say she had gone to Dewhurst’s home on Duncan Avenue, Bispham, and said he was “very hostile”.

Hide Ad“He didn’t want to speak to me, refused to let me into the house,” she said. “He stated any issues I wanted to discuss with him, he would do so at the front door.”
Ewing, 60, denies murder and doing an act tended and intended to pervert the course of justice.
Dewhurst, 46, denies assisting an offender, a serious sexual offence and also doing an act tended and intended to pervert the course of justice.
