Online map to highlight county’s tax cheats

Tax cheats across Lancashire are set to be pinpointed in a new online map.

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) does not name the offenders on the new map, but gives details of their crime and sentence.

Bosses say the graphic allows residents to see the impact of HMRC’s work and where it has taken action.

It shows convictions resulting in jail sentences since April 2013, and the locations of HMRC taskforces, designed to clamp down on criminal activity related to tax, since they were introduced in 2011.

Financial Secretary to the Treasury David Gauke said: “Investigators are catching tax cheats in every corner of the country and we want people to be able to see the outcome of this enforcement action.”
