Motorist jumped light and hit teen girl

A 25-year-old Blackpool man has been banned from driving for six months after he jumped a red light and hit a teenage girl as she crossed the road.

Anthony Robinson, of Hockley Place, Layton, admitted driving without due care and attention when he appeared before Blackpool Magistrates Court.

He was also fined £180 and ordered to pay £105 costs.

The girl had to be treated for a broken wrist and extensive cuts and bruising after she was struck by Robinson’s car.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said the 15-year-old girl was walking to a friend’s house and was using a crossing when she was hit by Robinson’s Audi which had jumped a red light.

The girl was flung over the top of the car and a worried Robinson drove her to hospital where she was treated for a broken wrist, cuts and bruising.
