The officers left their vehicle and approached the car, instructing the suspects to stop.

But the Vauxhall sped off, mounting the pavement and crashing into a police dog van - narrowly missing an officer.

The driver is suspected of deliberately trying to knock down the officer, before leading police on a chase around the resort.

The car was pursued by tactical ops before the driver lost control and mounted a pavement in Marton Drive, hitting a tree and smashing into a garden wall.
