Man found carrying cannabis

A man questioned by police on the street of an estate had cannabis on him.

Jevon Orritt, 21, formerly of Cooper House Farm, Kirkham Road, Freckleton, now living at Harewood Avenue, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to illegally possessing the class B drug.

He was fined £100 with £85 costs plus £20 victim’s surcharge by District Judge Meirion Lewis-Jones sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Philippa Jones, prosecuting, said police saw Orritt and another man stood on the street in Blackpool’s Grange Park estate on August 27.

When told he was going to be searched he handed over a very small piece of cannabis.

Orritt, who had no previous convictions, told the judge: “I was using cannabis regularly last year, but now I’m not.”
