But when Steven Rhodes, 32, got behind the wheel, he was committing a series of offences.

Checks revealed he was a disqualified driver because he had failed to take an extended re-test. Rhodes told police he had smoked cannabis the night before.

Rhodes admitted the offences and was ordered to do 55 hours’ unpaid work for the community.

He was banned from the road for 12 months and reminded he must take a re-test at the end of that period. He must also pay £145 court costs.
