Man in court over 'hit and run' that left cyclist seriously hurt in Fleetwood

A man has made his first appearance in court accused of seriously injuring a cyclist in an alleged 'hit and run' incident in Fleetwood.

The victim was riding his bike near the junction of Heathfield Road and Lindel Road at the time of the crash on Sunday (August 2) at around 1.35pm.

The cyclist was treated for serious injuries to his arm and leg.

Gareth Baker, 24, of Harbour Way, Fleetwood, is charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and grievous bodily harm with intent. He appeared at Blackpool Magistrates' Court this morning (Tuesday, August 4).

He is due to face trial at Preston Crown Court, where he will appear on September 2.

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the incident. Call police on 101 with information.
