A man has been released on bail after a person was attacked with a screwdriver in Fleetwood.

A man was attacked with a screwdriver at the junction of Preston Street and Lord Street at around 10.20am on Saturday.

A 40-year-old man from Fleetwood was later arrested on suspicion of Section 18 Assault and possession of an offensive weapon.

Officers on Tuesday confirmed he was "released on bail pending further enquiries".

Detectives released an appeal to find two women who may have witnessed the incident.

One was wearing a white coat with a hood and the other was wearing a black coat with a brown fur trim hood.

"We appreciate these descriptions are vague but we are confident the women will know who they are from the information provided," a spokesman for Lancashire Police said.

"We also continue to ask for anyone with information or dashcam or mobile phone footage to get in touch with us."
