A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly, police assault and criminal damage.

Lancashire Police has praised the brave citizen who came to the officer's rescue and said he has "undoubtedly prevented serious injuries to the officer".

Police are now appealing for the 'courageous' man to come forward, so the force can thank the man for his help.

Earlier this morning, Blackpool Police tweeted: "A member of the public courageously assisted an officer in Queen St this morning who was being assaulted.
