Man arrested after huge cannabis farm spanning four floors of building uncovered in Blackpool

The bust happened when Blackpool North Neighbourhood Police teamed up with Task Force officers to execute a drugs warrant at an address in the resort this morning.

A large scale cannabis farm spanning four floors of the building was discovered by offices upon entry.

Police said the electricity inside the property had been bypassed and overloaded, "leaving the premises at serious risk of fire and putting the lives of neighbouring residents at risk."

Officers confirmed one man had been arrested and enquiries were ongoing.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "Blackpool North Neighbourhood Team and Blackpool Task Force have executed a drugs warrant today resulting in a large scale cannabis farm being found spanning four floors of a premises.

"The electricity was abstracted, bypassed and overloaded leaving the premises at serious risk of fire and putting the lives of neighbouring residents at risk.

"One male has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing, focusing on the organised element of this."

The Gazette asked Lancashire Police where the raid took place, but a police spokeswoman said they "will not be releasing any further information" at this time.

The discovery makes it the second cannabis farm to be found in the resort this week, with police revealing hundreds of cannabis plants were found after officers raided a terraced home in South Shore yesterday morning (December 21).

Inside the home, walls had reportedly been torn down to create more space, whilst live wires had been left recklessly exposed near open water containers.

Officers said the home was also infested with "bugs and lice", which were found crawling around the plants.

One male suspect was taken into custody and police said an investigation is ongoing.
