Man arrested after 'hand grenade' found in Blackpool as homes evacuated

Police rushed to reports an explosive device had been discovered at an address in Raikes Parade this morning (February 25).
Around 30 homes along the road were evacuated and a cordon was immediately put in place while emergency services attended.

Hide AdThe Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was also called to the scene to assess the "suspected hand grenade".
Officers have since confirmed a 40-year-old man from Blackpool has been arrested in connection with the incident, however the reason for his arrest has not yet been provided.
He remains in custody for questioning.
The object has now been removed from the area by the bomb squad and those who were evacuated will now be able to return to their homes, police said.
Lancashire Police has been approached for further comment.
