Lytham takeaway theft man gambled money

A worker at a Lytham takeaway stole hundreds of pounds from his workplace and gambled the money away.

Jonathan Chapman was caught after CCTV footage at Gusto Italian takeaway was viewed by the owner.

Chapman, 27, of Fairview Close, Cheltenham, pleaded guilty to theft.

He was sentenced to a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £250 compensation, a £180 court charge, plus £85 costs with £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Gary McAnulty, defending, said at the time of the offence Chapman had difficulties in his life, gambling was not an on-going problem for him.

Chapman had written a letter of apology to the victim. He had been living on the Fylde but had now moved to Cheltenham.
