Husband and wife face child sex charges

A married couple accused of being sexual predators who preyed on young girls have made their first appearance at court.

Michael Hudson and wife Lorraine Hudson face charges which include administering a drug to a girl with the intent of stupefying or overpowering her to enable a person to engage in sexual intercourse with her, rape and gross indecency.

Michael Hudson, a 55-year-old business consultant and his 50-year-old wife, of Queens Crescent, Kirkham, are accused of historical offences against two girls, from the complainants being nine years of age.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between 1985 and 1997 at Kirkham.

Michael Hudson faces 18 charges which include two offences of rape, nine offences of indecent assault and two offences of administering Amyl Nitrate to a girl to obtain sexual intercourse.

He is also accused of gross indecency with a child, making an indecent picture of a child and aiding and abetting the indecent assault of a 
child.

Lorraine Hudson is charged with gross indecency with a girl under the age of 16 and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child aged 13 to 15.

Prosecutor, Peter Bardsley, asked for the case to be heard at crown court.

The couple were bailed to appear at Preston Crown Court on January 18 by Blackpool magistrates.

They must not have any contact with prosecution witnesses as conditions of their bail.

Michael Hudson, whose current address was given as Clifton Drive South, St Annes, also has an additional bail condition not to have any contact with any child under 16 except for fleeting or inadvertent contact or contact authorised by social services.
