The size of the cannabis farm indicates it was set up by an "organised criminal group", according to police.

No arrests have been confirmed and the drugs have now been destroyed.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "After a number of complaints from local residents, Blackpool South NPT with Blackpool Council and Task Force have conducted a visit on a hotel in South Shore.

"Inside the hotel was a set up with over 500 cannabis plants which will now be destroyed.

"The amount of investment in this set up indicates that this is the product of a organised criminal group that not only exploit the vulnerable but who fund serious crime such as human and weapons trafficking."
