Fleetwood man found guilty of raping seven-year-old girl

Jurors took just one hour and 21 minutes to find Peter Coleman, 45, Beach Road, Fleetwood, guilty of committing a string of sexual attacks on the youngster over a period between 2008 and 2013.

He was convicted of raping a child under 13, and intentionally causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity by touching him.

The trial was previously told the girl had confided in her father one evening in June 2018 after realising what had happened to her was wrong following sex education lessons at school.

Coleman, who had denied the offences throughout, had told her it was a secret.

Judge Philip Parry will sentence him on Friday morning.
