Beautician Sharon set up a crowdfunding page with the aim of raising £1,000 to recoup the money.

Sean, who logged the burglary with police, said: "It was so kind of her and people have been brilliant.

"I tried to tell her that the break-in was covered by insurance and that I was OK, but she insisted anyway.

"Whatever money raised now will go to charity, I can't really take any of it, but the response has been great - from one bad thing that happened, a lot of positive things have come."

He said any funds raised would go to either Fleetwood Gym, which has charity status, or a cancer charity.

Sean said he ran the voluntarily boxing sessions to to try and keep children out of trouble.

Sean says he had been planning to take the money, including some cash-in hand earnings,, to the bank but was caught out by the thieves and added: "They must have known my movements, when I would be leaving the house. They only stole the cash, nothing else."

Police confirmed they were aware of the break-in.
