Father confronted man he spotted inside his vehicle

Sam Booth, 23, of Withnell Road, South Shore, denied interfering with a motor vehicle but was found guilty of the offence after a trial.

He was sentenced to spend 24 hours at an attendance centre and ordered to pay £200 costs with £60 victims’ surcharge by District Judge Jeff Brailsford sitting at Blackpool Magistrates Court.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said the incident happened on September 22 at around 1am. A woman who was in her bedroom at an address on Hawes Side Lane, Marton, saw a man sat in her father’s car.

He then started rummaging around in the vehicle, the court was told.

The woman alerted her father who went out and asked what the man was doing,

Booth said: “Come on then,” and appeared to have a knife in his hand the court heard.

He then told the father to get back in his house.

Stephen Duffy, defending, said Booth’s fingerprints were not found inside the vehicle.
