‘Enforcer’ got wrong man over unpaid debt
John Kimberley returned to the flat three times and only retreated when the occupant picked up a hammer and said he was calling the police.
Kimberley, a 36-year-old father, formerly of St Albans Road, St Annes, now living at Knowsley Crescent, Thornton, pleaded guilty to damaging a door.

Jim Mowbray, prosecuting, said a man was asleep in a flat at St Albans Road, St Annes, when he heard a bang and then saw Kimberley stood over him. It happened on November 13.
Kimberley repeatedly asked the whereabouts of another man and returned twice more to the flat.
Mitch Sarangi, defending, said: “He was trying to recover money for a woman he was once in a relationship with.
“She has children and she was struggling financially. However, the man in the flat was not the one who owed the money.”
