Ejected chef’s bar damage spree

A hotel chef who ran amok assaulting a doorman and a woman customer at a Blackpool pub has been ordered to pay more than £2,000 in financial penalties.

Lyttle, 28, of Station Road, South Shore, pleaded guilty to two offences of assault, two counts of damage and one offence of possession of cannabis.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said Lyttle punched a doorman on the cheek on October 29, telling him “I’m going to follow you and burn your house down,” after being ejected from Ma Kelly’s.

Lyttle then barged back in causing a door to hit a woman customer on the arm, before hurling a plantpot and bricks, smashing four windows.

Peter Manning, defending, said Lyttle suspected his drinks had been spiked as he did not accept he had drunk enough alcohol to behave in that manner.

He had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.

Lyttle was sentenced to a 12-month community order with up to 20 days’ rehabilitation to be supervised by the Probation Service, and put on an eight-week curfew from 9pm to 6am.

He was also ordered to pay £200 compensation to the doorman, £150 compensation to the woman customer, £1,500 compensation for the windows, plus a £180 court charge, £85 costs and £60 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
