He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs with £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Jim Mowbray, prosecuting, said police were first called to Harthill on June 26 after he was involved in a neighbour dispute.

At 12.30am Harthill again came to police attention after officers saw a cabbie trying to eject him from a taxi. Police helped him home but he started to hallucinate, having conversations with family members who were not there.

The court heard he lashed out with his arms and legs, swearing and repeatedly shouted “get off me.”

Stephen Duffy, defending, said his client suffered from ADHD, Aspergers and depression for which he was prescribed medication.
