Drunk man blocked police car and cleaner

A drunk man chose to stand in front of a police car as it travelled through Blackpool town centre on Christmas Day, magistrates were told.

Officers told 26-year-old Ashley Herrington to go home when they came across him at 8am in Pleasant Street.

But it was not long before the same officers were called to Dickson Road where Herrington was lying down in the way of a road sweeper.

Herrington admitted being drunk and disorderly and an offence of possessing cannabis. He also admitted failing to answer his bail.

Leisa Splaine,defending, said that Herrington , who works as a bar man, is about to move into a new home on Cunliffe Street after living a chaotic lifestyle staying with friends.

Herrington was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and was fined £120 and must £105 costs.
