Driver rammed police car in Blackpool chase

A police car was rammed in a chase through the streets of Blackpool.

The pursuit, involving a silver Hyundai, happened in the early hours of Saturday.

Officers were eventually able to stop the vehicle, but not before another patrol car had been struck.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of car theft and drink driving.

A passenger travelling in the vehicle was also detained.

Earlier in the evening officers had been involved in a pursuit involving a black Volkswagen.

The car was later found abandoned in a car park. It was recovered for forensic work to take place.

During the same shift road police also recovered a stolen white Audi convertible, which had been reported missing following a burglary in Blackpool on February 27.
