Driver caught doing 110mph on motorway

The car was spotted this morning by officers from the Lancashire Roads Police unit, close to the junction with the M61.

It was flagged as uninsured by automati number plate recognition cameras

Officers in an unmarked car followed the Mercedes for around five miles, finally pulling the driver over on the westbound M55 close to Broughton

The car was seized and the driver reported to the courts for driving without insurance and speeding.

As he was clocked in excess of 100mph he faces a potential ban.
