Driver assaulted by passenger on rail replacement bus

Police have released CCTV image of a man officers would like to speak to in connection with the assault which happened on February 11 outside Blackpool North station.The incident happened at around 5.50pm as the rail replacement service was arriving from Preston.The offender was standing at the bottom of the coach steps before the doors were released.The coach driver asked the man to step back so that he could open the doors. The coach driver then stood in front of the man to open the doors, at which point the offender kicked the driver in the back of the legs.The victim fell into the man. Once off the coach, the offender grabbed the coach driver and assaulted him. The victim sustained a cut to his ear.The offender then ran away, under the subway towards Sainsbury’s.Officers would like to speak to the man shown in the CCTV image as he may have information which could help with the investigation.If you recognise him, or have any information about the incident, please contact British Transport Police by calling 0800 40 50 40 or text information to 61016, quoting reference number 259 28/2/17.
