Drink driver fled from car crash

A university student crashed on the Lytham seafront road and overturned his car before fleeing from the scene.

Joshua Brown, who had been working as a waiter during a function at Lytham Hall, was over the limit after drinking with work colleagues once the event had finished.

Brown repeatedly told an off-duty police officer who had rushed to his aid that he was drunk, as he climbed out of his wrecked Peugeot which had landed on its roof.

Brown,20, of Cheddar Avenue, South Shore, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and failing to stop after an accident.

He was banned from the road for 14 months and fined £110 with £85 costs plus £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
