Convicted drug dealer detained after 6 months on the run from HMP Kirkham

A convicted drug dealer has been caught after six months on the run from a Lancashire prison.

Ben Fay, 28, from Rochdale, absconded from HMP Kirkham on Sunday, October 27 last year.

He had been sentenced to four years in prison at Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester in June 2018 for aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving and possession of class A drugs with intent to supply.

But this morning, after six months on the run, Fay was detained at a police station in Manchester.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "Wanted prison absconder Ben Fay, 28, from Rochdale, has been detained at a Manchester police station after failing to return to HMP Kirkham in October."
