The discovery comes after 500 cannabis plants were also found in a hotel in South Shore by police who conducted a search after receiving complaints from local residents.

The size of the cannabis farm indicated it was set up by an "organised criminal group", according to police

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "After a number of complaints from local residents, Blackpool South NPT with Blackpool Council and Task Force have conducted a visit on a hotel in South Shore.

"Inside the hotel was a set up with over 500 cannabis plants which will now be destroyed.

"The amount of investment in this set up indicates that this is the product of a organised criminal group that not only exploit the vulnerable but who fund serious crime such as human and weapons trafficking."
