Bread knife used ‘to calm woman’

Nathan Peacock was also said to have headbutted her after she told him to leave.

Peacock, 26, of Beatty Close, St Annes, pleaded guilty to assault.

He was bailed for pre-sentence reports by Blackpool magistrates. He must not contact the complainant and not go to Otley Road, St Annes.

Prosecutor, Alison Quanbrough, said after 1am Peacock said they returned to his girlfriend’s home in Otley Road on June 13.

His girlfriend then asked him to leave and started pushing him towards the door.

Peacock said for some reason he picked up a bread knife in the kitchen and thinking it would calm her down he put the blunt end to her throat.

As the row continued, he lost his balance, pitched forward and his head collided with her face. He said he did not intend to headbutt her.
