Blackpool murder suspect and woman who died from stab wounds are named by police

A 62-year-old man has been charged by police investigating the murder of a woman in Blackpool.

Police were called by the Ambulance Service at around 9.30pm on Monday (March 29) to a report of a stabbing at a home in Dinmore Avenue, Grange Park.

Officers attended and found the body of a 49-year-old woman, Simone Ambler, inside the house.

Ms Ambler, from Blackpool, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Home Office post mortem gave her cause of death as multiple stab wounds.

Donald Payne, 62, of Dinmore Avenue, has been charged with murder.

He appeared at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday, March 31) where he spoke only to confirm his name, age and address.

He will appear at Preston Crown Court tomorrow.
