A man in his 50s was arrested after an incident at a hotel in Blackpool last night.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the Astor Hotel in Lord Street, North Shore at around 8.25pm, after it was reported a woman had been assaulted.

Officers arrested a 53-year-old man on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm. He was taken into hospital and remains in custody this afternoon.

The female victim was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital for further treatment.

A police spokesperson said: “At around 8.25pm yesterday (September 12) we were called to reports of an assault in Lord Street, Blackpool.

“Officers attended and a 53-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent was arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm.

“He is currently in custody.”
