Blackpool driver accused of drink driving after collision

A 59-year-old man from Blackpool has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after his car collided with a horse box in Bilsborrow, police said.

Officers were called at around 4.30pm on Tuesday following reports of an accident in St Michael’s Road.

A police spokesman said that a beige Skoda Octavia travelling towards St Michael’s village was involved in a collision with a green horsebox travelling in the opposite direction.

A passenger in the Skoda, a 18-year-old girl, suffered a minor shoulder injury in the incident.

While both vehicles stopped, neither motorist exchanged details.

The driver of the Skoda was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink-driving. Police are now appealing for the female driver of the horsebox to come forward to help them with their enquiries.

PC Martin Wilcock, of Lancashire Police, said: “We are appealing for information following a road traffic collision in Bilsborrow.

“A Skoda and horsebox collided in St Michael’s Road.

“While both drivers stopped, details were not exchanged.
