Dalbir Sandhu, 33, drug-driving, possession of cannabis

A telesales worker caught drug driving would now be unable to do his job.

Dalbir Sandhu, a 33-year-old father-of-two, of Beach Road, Cleveleys, pleaded guilty to drug driving and possession of cocaine.

He was disqualified from driving for three years, given a two year conditional discharge and fined £80 with £85 costs plus £30 victims’ surcharge.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said police stopped a Vauxhall Astra driven by Sandhu on Blackpool Promenade on February 2 at 1.25pm, after being given intelligence on the vehicle.

He told the police the car belonged to a friend.

He had a small package in his hand and he admitted to an officer it contained cocaine and cannabis.

A blood test showed nine micrograms of cannabis in his body – two is the limit.

Robert Castle, defending, said his client had co-operated with police and pleaded guilty immediately.

Sandhu had worked in telesales in Blackburn but when he would now be unable to do the job because of his disqualification.

Juliette Constanza, 51, drink-driving

A woman ended up before a court because of one microgram of alcohol, magistrates were told.

Juliette Constanza was on her way to hospital when she was stopped by police and found to be over the alcohol limit.

Constanza, 51, of Layton Road, Layton, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

She was banned from the road for 14 months, fined £217 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £30 victims’ surcharge.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said police stopped Constanza after seeing her fail to drive a Mitsubishi estate through a green traffic light at a junction of the resort’s Talbot Road, on April 21, at about midnight.

Constanza smelled of alcohol and a breath test showed 41 micrograms – the legal level is 35.

David Charnley, defending, said the incident had been a salutary lesson for his client who had no previous convictions.

She had had a couple of glasses of prosecco and then received a call from a friend whose daughter was very ill.

Constanza was driving to the hospital when she was stopped.

Mr Charnley added: “One microgram of alcohol lower and she would not have been prosecuted.”

Daniel Hoskinson, 20, breaching bail

A Blackpool man whose bail terms forbid him from having any contact with a woman was found in bed with her.

Daniel Hoskinson told a court that it was the woman who kept contacting him even finding him at his father’s flat.

Hoskinson, 20, of Queens Street,Blackpool admitted breaching his bail when he appeared.

He was re-bailed pending his trial for a domestic related assault.

The court was told that bail conditions were applied to Hoskinson.

Police were called to his father’s flat and when thry went inside found Hoskinson in bed with three woman who had travelled from Preston.

Hoskinson became angry with officers who at one stage had to use a PAVA spray on him to secure his arrest.

Hoskinson told magistrates: “She keeps coming to see me.

“I am going to find somewhere to live where she can’t find me.”

Alan Druse, 32, drink driving

A 32-year-old Cleveleys man was almost twice over the drink drive limit when police arrested him.

Alan Druse, of North Promenade, had pulled up his Ford car on Devonshire Road, Blackpool to take a mobile phone call.

Police saw his hazard lights were on and smelled alcohol when they approached him.

Patrick Nelligan, defending, said: “He has made a serious error of judgement.”

Druse was banned fromt he road for 17 months and fined £120.

He must pay £115 costs.

He admitted drink driving.

Matthew Knights, 28, driving while banned without insurance and not in accordance with his licence

A man caught committing his eighth offence of driving while disqualified had swapped the number plates on his car.

Matthew Knights admitted to police he had put on the registration plates of a van which was not drivable.

Knights, a 28-year-old builder, formerly of Brunswick Drive, Bispham, now living at Dawlish Avenue, Grange Park, pleaded guilty to driving while banned without insurance and not in accordance with his licence and fraudulently using a registration mark.

He was bailed to appear on June 6 for sentence at Preston Crown Court.
