Daniel Morrisey-Hill, 20, failure to comply with community order

A zoo worker was described as drowning under the number of appointments given to him by the probation service.

Daniel Morrisey-Hill, 20, of Eaves Street, North Shore, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a community order.

He was sentenced to a 12 month community order with up to 35 days rehabilitation to be supervised by the probation service.

Cheryl Crawford, prosecuting, said Morrisey-Hill had been sentenced originally to a 12 month community order with 20 days supervision and 60 hours unpaid work for the community for an offence of assault.

He had failed to keep appointments made for him by his probation officer on December 12 and February 2.

It was his third breach of the order.

Martin Hillson, defending, told magistrates: “He has been drowning with the number of appointments and programmes given to him by the probation service.”

Morrisey-Hill, who only had the one previous conviction for assault on his record, had completed all the rehabilitation days and payback work he had been sentenced to.

Amy Monteith, 29, theft

A woman accused of stealing goods valued at £717 from Tesco supermarket has been put on the wanted list.

Amy Monteith, 29, of St Anthony’s Place. North Shore, had a warrant without bail issued by Blackpool magistrates for her arrest after she failed to attend court.

Ryan Hughes, 32, drink-driving

A teacher who was more than twice over the drink-drive limit had no recollection of driving his BMW onto the middle of a roundabout.

Ryan Hughes at first lied to police in Blackpool claiming he was a passenger in the car.

Hughes, 32, of Holden Mill, Blackburn Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was banned from the road for 20 months, fined £735 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £73 victims’ surcharge.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said a witness saw a BMW in the middle of a roundabout on Cropper Road, Marton, on March 10 at 2.35am. Hughes was standing by the side of the road.

Initially Hughes said he had been a passenger in the BMW.

A breath test showed 83 micrograms of alcohol in his body – 35 is the limit.

Simon Gretton, defending, said his client, a teacher for 10 years, was in Blackpool for the night as a former colleague was celebrating a birthday.

Mr Gretton added: “The last thing he can remember was going to bed. For some inexplicable reason he got into his car and drove approximately a mile.

“He came to a halt on the roundabout.”

Suzanne Boyle, 28, theft, breach of bail

A 28-year-old Fleetwood woman was rebailed by Blackpool Magistrates.

Suzanne Boyle, of Pharos Street, admitted breaching the terms of her tagged bail.

She also admitted stealing a gammon steak from Lidl worth £3.20.

Paul Hagan, 42, breach of curfew

A man’s decision to see the aftermath of a crash at the end of his street proved costly.

Paul Hagan, 42, of Beach Avenue, Cleveleys, failed to meet his curfew time at his home because of the 15 minutes he spent at the roadside.

Although Hagan ran the curfew monitoring company to explain why he was late, he was still arrested .

Hagan admitted breaching his bail.

Adrian Hollamby, prosecuting, said that Hagan told police he had stopped at the accident scene to see if he could assist.

Hagan was re-bailed.

Clare Gough, 37, theft

A 37-year-old Blackpool woman charged with theft from her employer has had her case adjourned.

Clare Gough, of Grasmere Road, is alleged to have stolen £589 from The Doric Hotel in May last year. The case was adjourned until April 18.

Christopher Parkinson, 33, failure to comply with community order

A man said he had missed appointments with his probation officer because he was working around the north west.

Christopher Parkinson, 33, of Warbreck Hill Road, North Shore, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a community order. He was fined £50.

Cheryl Crawford, prosecuting for the probation service, said Parkinson had been sentenced to a 12 months community order with up to 20 days supervision by the probation service and six months drug rehabilitation for an offence of causing damage.

Parkinson told magistrates that he told the probation service he could be working all over including in Windermere and Manchester but he kept getting appointments timed for mid-afternoon.
