Audi driver with three small children caught speeding at 110mph on M55 outside Blackpool

Police spotted the black Audi A3 tearing it out of Blackpool as it sped along Preston New Road towards the M55 yesterday evening (Tuesday, August 11).
Officers followed the car as it joined the M55 at junction 4 where it was observed picking up speed immediately.

Hide AdAfter quickly reaching speeds in excess of 110mph, officers signalled for the car to pull over onto the hard shoulder.
Officers were surprised to find three young children sat in the back of the car as the driver excused his speeding, saying that he was "in a rush".
Police said the driver has been reported and will face speeding penalties.
A spokesman for Lancashire Road Police said: " We followed this Audi out of Blackpool along the M55 in excess of 110mph!

"The driver stated they were in a rush so thought it was OK to travel at that speed. Driver reported."
Speeding penalties
The minimum penalty for speeding is a £100 fine and 3 penalty points added to your licence.
You could also be disqualified from driving if you build up 12 or more penalty points within a period of 3 years.
