Arson investigation launched after man rushed to hospital following Blackpool house fire

Emergency services rushed to Alfred Street after receiving reports people were trapped inside a house engulfed in flames in the early hours of this morning (June 25).
Flames were tearing through all three floors of the building when fire crews arrived at the scene, but the two casualties trapped inside were successfully rescued.

Hide AdA man in his 40s suffered a facial injury and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.
A woman was also rescued from the burning building but declined hospital treatment, according to police.
Detectives now believe accelerants may have been used to start the fire, prompting an arson investigation to be launched by police.
Det Insp Jamie Lillystone, of Blackpool CID, said: "Initial enquiries between both the fire service and police suggest accelerants may have been used to start the blaze.

Hide Ad"This is clearly very concerning and we are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
"Did you see anyone acting suspiciously in the Alfred Street area between 4.30am and 5am? If so, please come forward."
Six fire engines from Blackpool, South Shore, Bispham and St Annes were swiftly sent to battle the blaze, as well as the aerial ladder platform.
Pictures revealing the aftermath of the fire show windows of the building blackened by smoke damage and a large hole in the roof.

Hide AdA Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Firefighters were called at around 5am to reports of a fire at a premise where it was believed there were casualties still trapped inside.
"On arrival crews found the fire involved all three floors of the property. They rescued two casualties, one using a triple extension ladder.
"Eight firefighters wearing breathing apparatus worked to bring the fire under control using four hose reels and two 13.5 meter ladders."
In an update posted at 7.30am, fire crews confirmed the incident had been reduced to four fire engines and the aerial ladder platform.
