Appeal to identify man after body found on Blackpool beach near South Pier

The body of a man was found during a search of the beach near South Pier and police are attempting to identify him.

RNLI lifeboats, Coastguard rescuers, and the Coastguard's helicopters spent hours scouring the Irish Sea after a man was seen in the water at around 3.50pm yesterday.

The body of a man, thought to be aged in his 20s or 30s, was found during a search of the beach near South Pier at around 9pm, after the tide went out.

Police have been making a number of enquiries to try and identify the man, but so far these have been unsuccessful.

Officers have also confirmed that they have not received any missing from home reports for a man matching his description.

A spokesperson for Blackpool Police said: "We are appealing for help in identifying a man who was found on the beach in Blackpool last night.

"He is thought to be in his 20s or 30s and was wearing a hoodie like the one below.

The man is described as being of slim, athletic build with shoulder length dark hair, a trimmed beard and blue eyes.

He was wearing grey towel shorts, a marl grey ‘Wills University Outfitters’ hoodie and blue Adidas running trainers.
