21-year-old Blackpool man charged by police after video of his arrest went viral

A Blackpool man, whose arrest was captured on video and put on social media, has been charged by police following the incident in South Shore yesterday.

The incident happened at around 5pm on Tuesday on Marton Drive in South Shore, by the Tesco Express after a car was spotted by officers driving on the wrong side of the road.

A man was arrested and shortly after a video was posted on social media showing two police officers trying to handcuff the man, wearing a black t-shirt and shorts next to a black Ford Fiesta, which the man is believed to have been the driver of.

The footage, which was captured by a passenger in the car, then shows the man saying “It’s out of order that lads” before one of the officers is seen to strike the man causing him to swear and he is then lead away to a police vehicle.

Kyle McCullough, 21, of Kipling Drive, Blackpool, has been charged with using threatening behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress, obstructing an officer and driving without due care and attention.

He has been bailed to appear at Blackpool Magistrates' Court on July 7.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "We are reviewing the circumstances of the incident including video footage circulating on social media."
