Three engines, including the Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP), have been mobilised and Hastings Avenue has been cordoned off between Rossington Avenue and Briarwood Drive.

The fire appears to have started in the loft, with fire crews using the ALP to access the roof to bring it under control.

A fire service spokesman said: "At 8.34am, fire engines from Blackpool and Bispham, as well as an aerial ladder platform from Blackpool, attended a domestic building fire located on Hastings Avenue, Bispham.

"The property was well alight when firefighters arrived.

"Crews are using two breathing apparatus and a hose reel to bring the fire under control. They remain in attendance at this time."

The fire service said Lancashire Police are also at the scene. The force has been approached for comment.

Neighbours and the local community have already sprung into action with offers to help the stricken family with clothes, food and other necessities.
