Blackpool Council update as new CCTV installed on Anchorsholme prom
“We appreciate the frustration and concerns residents have around dangerous driving along the prom and anti-social behaviour on the park.”
New CCTV cameras are being installed on Anchorsholme promenade to tackle dangerous driving as well as anti-social behaviour in the nearby park.
And the state-of-the-art hardware will be capable of identifying speeding vehicles.

Blackpool Council has received a number of complaints about ‘boy racers’ and others issues and has decided to take the latest action to tackle.
In addition, there have been a number of serious vandalism incidents in Anchorsholme Park, including an incident in September when play equipment was damaged.
Cllr Paula Burdess, cabinet member for street scene and highways, said: “We’re installing three CCTV cameras along Princes Way, covering both the prom and Anchorsholme Park, in a drive to deter dangerous and anti-social behaviour.
“We appreciate the frustration and concerns residents have around dangerous driving along the prom and anti-social behaviour on the park.
“These are PTZ cameras – pan, tilt and zoom – able to move around and track a wide area, and have ANPR capabilities too, to identify speeding vehicles.

“They’ll be monitored from our CCTV control centre and any incidents they capture will be shared with the police, as required.
“The Friends of Anchorsholme Park have kindly contributed towards the overall costs. The Blackpool North MP, Lorraine Beavers, is also looking to support the scheme using funding from Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner.
“This is a really positive example of partnership working and we’re grateful to both for supporting us in liaising with and reassuring the community.”
