Concert is a showcase for brass bands

Blackpool Brass and the Poulton le Fylde Band are holding a joint concert at the Salvation Army Citadel, Raikes Parade, Blackpool on Saturday, February 21, at 7:45 pm.

The concert is designed as a curtain raiser to the North West Regional Championships which take place at the Winter Gardens on Sunday, March 1.

At the Regional Championships, or ‘the Areas’ as they are more commonly called, every band in each section must play the same piece, set by the contest organisers.

These are designed to test each band’s skill, musicianship and technical ability.

At the concert, both bands will perform a varied and enjoyable programme of music lasting approximately 45 minutes culminating in a performance of their test piece.

The concert will give both bands the opportunity to perform their demanding test pieces in front of a live audience ahead the contest.

Tickets priced £5 each are available on the door.
