Chris is the toast of LA

Nominated for six awards at the LA Web Festival, Chris walked away with three awards for the comedy , which centres around Josh Hurts – a teacher thrust back into the dating market after a break-up.

The series was inspired by tales of bad dates that made Chris’s friends laugh.

The 29-year-old, from St Annes, said: “I thought, that’ll make good source material, I might as well take those bad experiences and turn them into a good production.”

Chris and his team scooped Best Director and Best Supporting Actress for Bianca Rudman’s role as “crazy Rosie”. Jim Thomas, a retired music teacher from Blackpool and The Fylde College, was awarded Best Composer for the show’s catchy theme tune.

‘Love Hurts’ was filmed mostly in Blackpool, including the Oracle education centre, Italian restaurant Nunzios and outdoor locations featuring venues such as Sanuk.

The cast is made up of local people and ex-performing arts students of Blackpool and The Fylde College.

Chris, who achieved a national diploma in Performing Arts and a Higher National Diploma in Media Production from Blackpool and The Fylde College before gaining a Masters in Film, added: “The LA Web Festival is the  largest and most renowned of its kind, so we are immensely proud to have been nominated for that.”

Chris is currently “working through the night” to edit and recut the series for a feature length film, and is halfway through the second series of Love Hurts. He added: “It’s all part of the fun.”
