Now a charity night in honour of the teenager and the services that tried to save him has been organised at Marton Methodist Church, Midgeland Road, on Saturday at 6.30pm.

Money will be raised for the RNLI and Derby charity Sand, Sun and Special Needs. There will be a buffet, raffle, bingo, and karaoke.

Michael’s aunt Lavinia Buckley said: “We are raising money for two charities, RNLI Blackpool to thank them for trying to save Michael on that dreadful night.

“The other charity is SSSN Derby. They arranged for bikers and cars to be at Michael’s funeral; they make dreams happen and help so many people do the things they want before they die.”

Michael was described as a ‘lovely, caring, bubbly 18-year-old lad’ by his family.

Anyone who wants to donate raffle prizes to the fundraiser is asked to contact Lavinia on 07425 148820.
