Celebrating your health heroes

Those who truly understand the meaning of care were honoured at The Gazette's annual Best Of Health Awards.

The awards scheme, now in their seventh year, aim to recognise excellence, dedication and innovation in health professionals, but also to honour those who care in the voluntary sector.

The awards – sponsored by Synergy Dental Clinic – took place in the Washington Suite, in the Imperial Hotel, on North Promenade.

Guests enjoyed a sparkling drinks reception, three-course meal and the winners in the 11 categories were presented with their trophies and certificates during a glittering ceremony.

Gazette readers and members of the public had nominated their health heroes, telling us amazing stories of dedication and professionalism.

The awards went to those the judges felt made a real difference for their patients and the local community.

Among the winners were volunteers from N-Vision Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Royal Society for the Blind, a GP from Thornton, a hospital midwife and singer Anne Nolan – who received a special recognition awards for her work with charities including Cancer Research UK and the Alzheimer’s Society.
