CCTV appeal after man punched

Police are hunting this man after a drinker was punched in the face in a “callous” unprovoked attack.

Officers have released this CCTV image of a man they would like to talk to in connection with the incident in Lytham on March 29.

Information only released by police today details how the 25-year-old victim was punched in the face in Portofino restaurant, on Henry Street, at around 11pm that night.

The man, from Wrea Green, who had been standing drinking at the bar, was knocked to the floor and left with injuries to his face.

It is believed the attack followed another incident earlier in the night, which the victim was not involved in.

DC Duncan Worsley, from Blackpool CID, said: “This was a completely unprovoked, callous attack on a man who was just out on a Saturday night enjoying a drink with friends.

“I believe the assault took place following a public order incident earlier in the night, which the victim was totally unconnected to.

“If anyone recognises the man in the CCTV or has any information about the incident, please come forward and let us know.”
