Brainy students conquer exams

Hodgson Academy welcomed a successful results day, with one top performer achieving across-the-board top grades in the notoriously difficult new English and maths exams.

Brainy Alice Easton achieved three grade 9s, five A*s and one A grade.

Some 89 per cent of students gained at least a grade 4 in English and 86 per cent gained at least a grade 4 in Maths.

Some 15 pupils achieved passes in as many as 10 different subjects.

Hannah Bartholomew achieved one grade 9, 2two grade 8s and six A*s.

Eleanor Whittingham achieved an A* in AS maths. She also achieved two grade 9s, one grade 8, four A*s and two A grades.

And the award for top performing boy was Jordan Green who achieved one grade 9, two grade 8’s, four A*s, two As and one B grade.

Head teacher Derek Yarwood said: “I would like to congratulate the Class of 2017 on their superb set of results.

“This would not have been possible without the brilliant teaching, talent and hard work of our staff and the support of our parents.

“The students have achieved pleasing grades overall and we wish them every success as they move on to their next pathway at college or in the world of work.”
