Blackpool’s Coleen Nolan has shared special memories of The Imperial Hotel in a candid Facebook post as she strolled the promenade.
Passing the hotel, a family member pointed out that it where a blessing ceremony was held after her marriage to ex-husband Shane Ritchie.

She said: “Me and Shane’s dad, we eloped to Florida to get married but my dad was very ill and at my sister’s wedding he said ‘the biggest regret of my life was that I didn’t get to give my baby away.’
“So, we had a blessing and that’s where we had the reception in the Imperial Hotel.”

“I wanted to dress up so we made it a black tie event. All the men were in suits and the women in ball gowns, and that’s all I knew about it.
“And as I walked into the room, my dad had booked a 15 piece orchestra. And as they opened the doors this orchestra started playing Happy Birthday.

“It was like a wedding but it was nice because you didn’t end up tied to anyone!
“So I got to wear a lovely dress. We had lovely sit down food, great entertainment and then... it was great, didn’t have to do anyone’s washing the next day.”
