The English Touring Opera company is holding a free singing workshop in the resort – and is particularly looking for local supermarket staff to get involved.

ETO’s marketing officer Scott Weddell said: “Lead by singers on ETO’s current tour, the opera workshop will be a fun introduction into the opera world for any first time singers or first time opera-goers.

“Taking inspiration from former ETO employee Gareth Malone’s TV programmes, the workshop will include how to warm up your voice, how to project and tips on finding your voice. By the end of the session you’ll be able to sing like a star.

“No previous experience is required.”

The workshop is being held on Saturday, June 10 from 3pm to 5.30pm.

It is intended to celebrate the company’s return to Blackpool, where they are touring their new production of Puccini’s Tosca.

Participants in the workshop will also be given a backstage tour of the Grand Theatre, and see how the production is brought to life.

They will also be given free tickets to see Tosca - an epic tale of love and revenge that has become one of the world’s most popular operas.

The workshops are open to supermarket staff of all ages, plus their friends and families. To find out more, call Scott on 0207 7833 2555 or email [email protected]
