Blackpool promotions maker in seminar day

A  Blackpool promotional merchandise maker is set to take the lead at an industry event next month.

SPS based at the Sycamore Trading Estate, which this time last year launched a recruitment drive for 20 new staff, is to feature at the event to celebrate the BPMA Promotional Products Week which starts on October 2.

Another Lancashire based promotions firm, BusinessGiftUK.com, has organised a seminar and networking opportunity on 12 October at Leyland Golf Club.

The theme is why merchandising should be part of a company’s marketing mix.

One of the key speakers is Christine Girven, marketing manager at SPS.

SPS makes and supplier of promotional merchandise to the UK and across Europe. The award-winning company has been manufacturing in Blackpool for 25 years and has now expanded to additional sites in Banbury, Oxfordshire and Swadlincote, Derbyshire.

In total, SPS employs over 300 across its sites and has teams in Germany, Holland, France and Poland.

Two years ago itbought Ultimate Promotional Paper Products of Battersea.

Christine Girven has been the marketing manager at SPS for seven years.

She said: “At SPS, we specialise in plastics manufacturing. At the seminar, I will present on the huge benefits of buying British when it comes to promotional products, whilst showcasing some examples of our award winning British products.

“We are very proud of the fact that our product development team has been behind the launch of several industry best sellers, particularly in promotional drinkware.

“Our team includes product designers and toolmakers, which allows us to work with customers to create their differentiated, custom-made products, to help them increase their brand awareness with both existing and potential customers.”

Other speakers at the seminar include Steve Ward, MD, Business Gift UK, outlining how the distributor adds value and Gordon Glenister, Chairman, BPMA on recent developments for the industry.
