Blackpool out in force to welcome Children in Need’s rickshaw team

Crowds turned out in Blackpool to welcome youngsters undertaking a gruelling nationwide journey to raise money for Children In Need.

The resort hosted the first leg of the One Show’s Rickshaw Challenge ‘Salford to Walford’, after riders had set off from the BBC’s studios in Manchester earlier in the day.

Presenter Matt Baker, who is cycling alongside the team for the 450-mile trip which will end in London at the Eastenders set on Friday, broadcast live to the nation from North Pier as the entourage arrived in Blackpool on Friday.

Matt said: “The pressure is really on for the riders this year as we’re hoping that Team Rickshaw will raise more money than ever, and we will support them every step of the way.

“They faced some harsh weather conditions but the bright lights of Blackpool kept the team going.”
