Blackpool lifeboat crews rescue person from sea near Manchester Square

A rescue mission was launched to rescue a person in the sea in Blackpool this morning (July 2).

RNLI volunteers were called out at 5.08am after a person was spotted in difficulty in the sea at Manchester Square.

Crews launched a D-class lifeboat and swiftly reached the person, who was brought to shore and placed in the care of an ambulance team at the RNLI lifeboat station.

HM Coastguard in Lytham and Lancashire Police also responded to the incident.

The person received a check-up from North West Ambulance Service at the scene.
